How

Our research for this trip began over three years ago. After attending TrawlerFest in Baltimore, Maryland, we became better educated on the intricacies of planning a year long, 6,000 mile journey around the eastern third of the United States. The picture above portrays the counter clockwise direction we’ll be moving through each season. We plan to travel at a little over seven knots (8 1/2 mph) for about fifty miles per day. Weather conditions will play a big part in our progress, as well as locks and bridge openings.

Our boat, named Denny, is a 27 foot trawler style boat. It is a self contained vessel which affords us opportunities to tie-up at marinas, as well as anchor out. We carry on board a weeks worth of supplies before we need to venture out for laundry and groceries, but regardless, we hope to visit many of the communities along our way.
