WELCOME!

UPDATED DECEMBER 2025

Welcome to the voyages of the Motor Vessel Denny with Captain Dennis and First Mate Denise. Three years ago we made our first attempt at America’s Great Loop, but soon realized we were not yet up to the task.  Our second attempt began two years ago in October and was suspended after seven weeks for a planned winter break at the Gulf of Mexico. Our plan was to continue the following March, but had to be put on hold due to a fire at our residence in January. Our third attempt was supposed to begin in early October of 2024, but the hurricanes that hit Florida prevents us from do so.  We made a third try in the spring of 2005, but soon realized we probably waited too long in the year to resume our loop from Mobile Bay, with temperatures already in the 90s and our air conditioner not really up to the task. So……we started our loop over from Aurora on October 22nd of 2025. Everything was going great, until our boat’s engine quit working halfway through Alabama. After a week of trying to diagnose the problem, we finally put the boat on its trailer and towed it to Freeport, Florida (near Destin) where we hope to have the engine repaired. We returned home and would like to resume our adventure within the next couple of months, after repairs are completed.

We documented our adventures from our previous attempt in the form of a blog. But since we repeated that section of the loop in our most recent attempt, we decided wait until we get into new territory before blogging again. The blog from the first section can be viewed by clicking on the “Blog” button below.
